The curriculum at J H Godwin has always and will always remain well balanced and rich to secure skills in reading, writing and mathematics whilst being excited about the possibilities that learning a broad range of subjects can provide.

Our overarching curriculum intent is to develop happy, confident and aspirational children who know how to become successful learners and add value to society through respectful, well-informed opinion and values.

We place a strong emphasis on the teaching of Personal, Social and Health Education, Online Safety, Religious Education, Philosophy for Children and global issues to support the specific challenges of our catchment area.

We actively teach strategies for long-term happiness, confidence and strong mental health through the MY HAPPY MIND programme, relationship education and equality to meet the needs of our children.

We teach the National Curriculum to develop a love of historical knowledge, geographical enquiry, fascinated scientific minds with a thirst for investigating and an appreciation of art and music. We encourage activity throughout the day and an enjoyment of sports and a curiosity about design and manufacture through Design and Technology. We prepare children for a future that does not yet exist through teaching skills and applications of computing and a love of languages through the teaching of Spanish.
