Science Covid Recovery

As part of the recovery process, we have closely monitored the impact of home learning experiences, and have made careful and planned adjustments to the Science Curriculum.

The Science Curriculum has now been planned carefully with consideration to the gaps in the learning from previous year groups.  The information set out below, provides the details of the planning and preparation for the new Science interim curriculum that takes on 4 approaches:

1) Recovery Days - A day dedicated to missed learning opportunities in Science lead by Mrs Cornish, our Science Curriculum Leader. These days focus on recapping key knowledge, but also include learning experiences and resources that could only be created in the classroom environment. This can be seen highlighted purple on our scheme of work. Each class has 1 day per term.

2) Prioritised Curriculum - The curriculum has been prioritised giving emphasis on our pupils attaining key knowledge that gives them a firm foundation in scientific knowledge. This will shape the way pupils are taught this year and next with these areas being the main focus. This can be seen highlighted red on our scheme of work

3) Focus on Key Scientific Skills that are essential in developing pupils enquiry skills.

4) Enhanced Links through Literacy, Maths, Geography and PSE, maximising the learning opportunities in each lesson taught. This can be seen highlighted green and grey on our scheme of work
